First there was a video game...
Yes Meine Liebe was originally a dating simulation game for the Game Boy Advance. Unlike most
dating sims though, in Meine Liebe you play the girl trying to win over the heart of the guy of your
dreams (this also is why some advertising for the series says "Boys for Girls"). As the girl
character of this game you have to balance school with fun, spend time with your girl pals, and still
find time to get in touch with your favorite guy. Since the game is really aimed more towards
girls that guys the characters resemble those from a Shoujo anime/manga (expect to see lots of
feminine looking guys XD).
For more info about the game check out the IGN Meine Liebe Game Review Site.
I would just like to take this moment to point out that Meine Liebe is not a shounen ai series. Somehow that rumor seems to be going around the net,
and I honestly have no idea why. Remember this who series is based on a dating sim where the guys are after your girl character lol, so calling it a
shounen ai series would pretty much be a ... well a lie. XD
And there is a anime (which I'm sure you guessed by now). Basically it's similar to other animes based on dating sims where it allows the viewers
a chance to get to know the characters better (and sort of serves as advertising for the game, since if you like the anime you are probably going
to want to play the game ^_^ ) Since Shining Fansubs did such a good job describing the anime series on
their projects page I'm just going to quote them. "In the times when the political world was filled with instability, Kuchen, a country on the
edge of Europe, disregarded the pressure of its surrounding countries, and walked its own independent road. The policy was carried out by an
intelligent king, aided by several scholars who desired to restore the kingdom. They had strong backgrounds, logical minds, and were specially
recognized by the Kuchen Church. Most were graduates of the renowned Rozenstolz Academy. Several youths, hoping to one day also receive the
responsibility, strived to be the top of the academy. They are called the Strahl Candidates.
This anime focuses on these five candidates and the events that occur as each of these five lads aim to be selected as Strahl. Full of
ambition, betrayal, rivalry, and love, this bishounen anime is not one to be missed."
There is also a manga... it's kind of lame though. XD If you want to see it Kagami is
the only group that I know of that is scanlating it. (although just as a warning sometime in the future Kagami will probably start scanlating
yaoi series, so visit their site at your own risk. Oh and they have a guide to the Meine Liebe game up XD )
