Naoji is a transfer student from Japan (so yeah even though they speak Japanese in this series he is the only real Japanese person XD). Supposedly he is sent away so that he can avoid the impeding war in Japan, but there may be other reasons that have yet to be revealed for his coming. He is definately Lui's right hand man, and other then Camus he's the only student that can get away with questioning Lui without ticking him off. Although Naoji is devoted to Ludwig he also sees the benefit in Orpherus's way of thinking, and he is also pretty close friends with both Camus and Eduard.

Having been raised in Japan he practices Kendo (I wonder if he even knows European swordsmanship) and traditional Japanese archery. It's quite funny how suprised he is at his own popularity amoung the girls at Rozenstolz Academy, and he doesn't quite seem to know what to make of them. XD Personally I find it a little odd that even though he is foreign born and raised he can so easily become a Strahl candidate. (since being a Strahl candidate means you could potentially help run the country but would a country normally trust a foreigner so easily with that kind of a title?) There are 2 possible explanations to this: 1.) Something is going on within the government that his family is a part of so they got him the position or 2.) The makers of the dating game wanted a Japanese character in it somehow. XD Haha, most likely it's the second choice but you never know...
